Background

What Cerberus or the ship did before Cerberus came aboard he either doesn't know or is simply unwilling to tell, either way it plays little part in what events unfold in front of him. What is certain is that the ship did not take on the name Dirge of Cerberus until some time after he was aboard, and that a rather disagreeable fellow gave it that title before practically giving away the ship to be rid of him.

Cerberus has been aboard the ship since before the Galactic Civil War began in 2 BBY, how long before even he isn't certain but its safe to bet not too long before. He hasn't been off the ship for any extended period of time during that span, though he is known to have numerous contacts across the galaxy, especially in the Outer Rim and he maintains a repair workshop on the planet of Hypori, where the ship can undergo major repairs. His closet ally and longest friend is an Ithorian mechanic who owns and operates a rather unique junkyard and ship repair yard in orbit around the planet Duro. How he maintains these contacts is rather difficult to tell, perhaps he has been able to subtly guide the adventures of the ship along those courses when in the appropriate situation, regardless of how it is safe to bet he knows a good place to start looking for something. At least anything that can be found in a junkyard.

Cerberus has come to a typically unspoken agreement with most of the owners of the ship throughout his residency aboard it, those that did not eventually take a liking to his presence or services usually got rid of the ship quickly. Most of them rather welcomed the free services that were provided, ship repair was often an expensive undertaking and Cerberus was quite a proficient repair man. Even if it took them several months to get used to his mysterious ways and creepy habits. Due to his helpfulness and at times his persistence he has traveled with the ship for most of it's lifetime and as a result taken part in an assortment of it's adventures. The ship has been used as a transport, a smuggling vessel, been apart of pirate missions, helped the Rebel Alliance, and practically been destroyed on more than one occasion.

Personality

Cerberus has grown accustomed to most people not taking notice to him, and in a lot of ways he prefers it like that. He is generally pretty quiet, and stays out of the focus of social situations whenever possible. He quickly grows nervous when forced into social situations that aren't on his own terms and may grow hostile if forced into them when he doesn't want to be. However, in the right situation he can be quite pleasant and even talkative if he is talking about something that interests him.

He is a diligent worker and he doesn't require much from anyone else to survive, just the parts that are needed to make the next repair. He is used to living his life mostly on his own and at times can be quite a recluse, especially since most people react even more negatively to him than he does to them. Outsiders often immediately assume he is some sort of wraith or demon and he often dismisses people who are ignorant enough to think so, however that leaves him with a narrow selection for friends and acquaintances. He has grown used to isolation and might even say that he prefers it, but in reality it is not truly the case and he misses the busyness and conversation of others when alone aboard the ship. He has quite the habit of eavesdropping, both on the conversations of those that he is familiar with as well as with those whom he is not when he grows lonely. Beware what you say, you never know when the shadows are listening.
